The main IBOVAL indexation has just been published for the Charolais breed. It reports on the confirmation of genomic predictions on progeny, particularly for young bulls marketed 18 months earlier. In addition, as with all indexations, this is an opportunity to compare the genetic levels of bulls by GD and to confirm the directions taken by the genetic program.
1-Good confirmations for birth ease
Newly indexed on progeny, the SEREIN PP bull confirms an excellent 121 in IFNAIS and joins the very closed circle of bulls with very easy births (IFNAIS ≥120), like MELOMAN, NESTOR, RAVEL and REMIX.
In the strategic segment of bulls suitable for heifers, the expected star STREAM PP concedes a few places, but his IFNAIS of 108 (REL 0.99) extends his use on heifers without any problem. In a different, more "breeding" profile, the bull SILEX boasts a very good IFNAIS at 113, enabling him to be used on a wide range of heifers, particularly those carrying MH mutation.
2-REMUS remains French No. 1 at weaning
With all calves born, weighed and scored over the last campaign, ISEVR weaning indexes are becoming more reliable. The champion for growth and mixed type, REMUS (ISEVR 139), still holds his position as N°1 French daughter proven bull. In this ranking, Genes Diffusion holds 70% of bulls with ISEVR ≥ 120, including other bulls of his generation such as RUSTY P (127), ROX P and REGALAD PP (125).
REMUS confirms its position as French No. 1 in weaner production
As their suffix indicates, these latest bulls are Polled. Thanks to the performance of their offspring at weaning, these latest generations of Polled bulls fully rival the best horned sires. RUSTY P is even N°1 in France in ISEVR for heterozygous Polled sires used in purebred breeding, and REGALAD PP has become N°1 for homozygous Polled sires.
3-GENES DIFFUSION, leader in fattening too
Genetics by GD remains widely renowned for the fattening performance it offers. 65% of proven bulls with an IABjbf ≥120 are still GENES DIFFUSION bulls. POETIC P (IABjbf 134) ranks second on this index, followed by NORDIC at 130. More recent bulls include OCTOPUS at 122 and ONEDREAM P at 121.
POETIC P - Gènes Diffusion holds 65% of proven bulls with a BFjABI ≥ 120
The average ABIjbf level of the 58 bulls in the 2025 by GD offer is over 112. Beef cattle breeders make no mistake about it: using these genetics is the assurance of generating added economic value.
4-Promising RENEWAL levels
Considering IVMAT as the historical reference for evaluating renewal quality, 60% of bulls evaluated on progeny with an index ≥ 120 are by GD, including big names such as EPERNAY (124), ONEDREAM P and NORDIC (122), MIMOSA and BASTION (122).
With the arrival of Single-Step (a new indexing method) planned for August 2025, all bulls will benefit from the RENOUV "pilot" index, which, as a reminder, combines the effects of production, reproduction and type of a bull's daughters. For this index, the ranking places STREAM PP (RENOUV 129) as co-leader, and 64% of bulls with RENOUV ≥120 are by GD.
The top bulls in this ranking are REMUS (126), SANTIAGO (125), MELOMAN, MIMOSA, REGALAD PP and HIAGO (124), ONEDREAM P and TROPIC (123), TILLEUL P, TRUMAN, PERCEVAL and GUETTA (122), to name but a few.
MELOMAN, more than a bull, a "Founder"
The years and the indexations follow one another and always reveal their share of satisfaction. The few indexindexes points we lose are a constant reminder that we're working with living animals, and that in the end we can only control a fraction of their genetic potential.
However, our experience, expertise and genetic resources enable us to continue to offer you the best possible genetics to meet your needs. Some of them, such as MELOMAN, ONEDREAM P and PERCEVAL, will leave their mark on all herds.
